Dream Interpretation: What do our Dreams really mean?

The interpretation of dreams by dream experts may be almost as old as dreaming itself.  We know that all humans, and many animals, dream every night, and humans have always been fascinated to learn what causes dreams and what they mean.

The interpretation of dreams dates back at least as far as 3000-4000 B.C.  We know that because the interpretations of dreams were recorded in permanent form on clay tablets.  It is thought that many primitive peoples were unable to initially distinguish between the real world and the dream world.  In many cases, these people looked upon the dream world as an extension of the physical world around them, and in many cases they saw the dream world as more powerful than the waking one.

Dream interpretation was such an important field to the ancient Greek and Roman world that dream interpreters often accompanied generals and other military leaders into battles.  Dreams were taken extremely seriously, and the Greeks and Romans in particular often viewed dreams as messages sent by their gods.

Dreams also had a religious content in ancient Egypt, and priests their doubled as dream interpreters.  Dreams were among the items recorded by the ancient Egyptians in the form of hieroglyphics.  Those whose dreams were especially vivid or significant were thought to be blessed and were given special status in these ancient societies.  Likewise, people who were able to interpret dreams were thought to receive these gifts directly from the gods, and they enjoyed a special status in society as well.

There are over 700 mentions of dreams in the bible, and people in biblical times saw dreams as very significant.  Dreams and their interpretations are mentioned in many of the most significant books of the bible and other holy scriptures.

In many cases, dreams were often seen as a form of prophecy.  People often interpreted their dreams as omens or warnings, and adjusted their activities accordingly.  Dreams were often thought of as omens from deities, as messages from spirits, or as messages from departed souls.  In some cases, dreams were even seen as the work of demons, meant to confuse and trouble the dreamer.

Dreams were so important that they often dictated the actions of political and military leaders, affecting everything from the prosecution of a battle to the outcome of a political decision.  Dreams were also thought to provide vital clues to healers, and they were used in the diagnosis and treatment of all manners of illness.

Dreaming was often looked upon by indigenous peoples as a way to commune directly with gods and spirits, and dreams are still used in this way by cultures around the world.  Many people believed, and some still do, that during dream sleep the soul leaves the body and communes with the spirit world.

The Chinese were one culture who believed that the soul left the body each night during dream sleep.  They believed that if the dreamer were suddenly awakened the soul may not be able to return to the body.  That is why some Chinese are still leery about the use of alarm clocks.  This is just one example of how ancient legends can linger into the modern world.

Some Mexican and Native American societies share this ancient view of the importance of dreams, and share the belief in a separate dimension that is visited during dream sleep.  These people believed that their departed ancestors lived in their dreams, and that they were able to take forms like animals and plants. Thus dreams were seen as a way for them to commune with their recent and ancient ancestors, and to gather wisdom and knowledge that would serve them in their waking lives.  Dreams were also seen as ways to gather information about their purpose or mission in life.

The respect for dreams changed radically early in the 19th century, and dreams in that era were often dismissed as reactions to anxiety, outside noises or even bad food and indigestion.  During this period of time, dreams were thought to have no meaning at all, and interest in dream interpretation all but evaporated.  This all changed, however, with the arrival of Sigmund Freud later in the 19th century.  Sigmund Freud stunned the world of psychiatry by stressing the importance of dreams, and he revived the once dead art of dream interpretation.

Mind Power: How Focus Determines your Reality

Do you know how powerful your thoughts really are? Are you fully aware that these thoughts, all 50,000 per day, are singularly the most powerful influences on everything that happens to you in your life and are the reason you have attracted the people you know, the house you live in and the car you drive?

In fact the sum total of everyone's thoughts is the very thing that shapes everything that exists, everything that has existed, and everything that will ever exist. You may ask then "if this is true then shouldn't it be possible to bring into existence anything we desire?"

Well the short simple answer is YES!

It is through the power of deliberate thought that we can create. While thought alone does have the power to bring tangible (cars, houses, boats) and intangible (peace, harmony and joy) things into existence often times this is not enough!  Intention, or directed thinking and believing, is enough to create powerful enough thoughts to manifest anything we want but you must also add two other ingredients.

Firstly, your thoughts must be backed by emotion. The more powerful the emotion - the stronger the thought. It is essential to create within you the same feelings that you will have when you actually achieve your desire. You actually do this all the time only in the opposite direction. For example, you think of what you are afraid may happen and all of a sudden you feel frightened, tense and may even start to exhibit some physiological symptoms such as sweating or shaking or just get the shivers. Begin to reverse this method of thinking. Think only of what you do want and conjure up the feelings associated with that. How will it feel to meet and marry that perfect person? How will it feel behind the wheel of that new Mercedes or in the kitchen of that new home?

The second key ingredient of the three is action! It is necessary to be prepared to take some action. This is a key point that many personal development gurus leave out! The action that you need to take will not be strenuous or a toil, it will be enjoyable and feel right to you.

Each of us here on the planet plays their own special role in the complete operation of the Universe. We are all One, interconnected and interdependent. Your desires will almost always come through some form of action and through connection to other people.

Your thoughts do have the power to completely change your life and circumstances. When thoughts are backed by emotion they become an unstoppable force that will carry you to wherever you want to go in life. But you must be willing to take the steps towards your desires when these steps are presented to you. For example thinking and believing you will meet your soul mate will bring you vast opportunities for meeting him/her but you never will if you sit at home all day and do not venture outside! You may find that you begin to get asked to go to places more often or get invited to a place you have never been before. You may even accidentally meet old friends or develop new friendships. This is the Universe setting you on a path to your desires. Take that invitation. Even if it is something you have no desire to do or somewhere you do not want to go, you should accept the invitation. Who knows who you may meet or where you may end up!

So remember, ingredient 1 - thoughts have power. Ingredient 2 - thoughts backed by strong emotion and belief can change the very Universe and create ANYTHING you want. And the lastly ingredient 3 - action is the last key ingredient to bringing about your desires and living the life of your dreams. Now get out there and start to CREATE!

How to have a Happy Life: Karma and the Laws of Attraction Explained

We are all made of star stuff.

Lets face it we are just all just an individual collection of atoms, we are all made of the same stuff, and our lives are so short. Nothing is more important that the quest for a happy life. We are going to look at a technique for how to have a happy life. This method will explain how to attract goodness and make good things happen.

In the Eastern religions, Hinduism and Buddhism they have a concept known as Karma. What is karma? The simplistic answer is that if you do good things the universe will reward you and those who do bad will suffer negative consequences. Yet we know this not to be entirely true because bad things happen to good people  too.

The long answer is that its not as simple as that.  The system isn't as dogmatic as that.

If your a good person who spends his time helping people, caring for others, respectful of the earth, sharing and being kind then you will attract other people like that into your life. Having people like that in your life will only improve your existence. Those are the kind of friends you want right? If you share the things you have with your friends then they will share with you.

If you raise your children properly and bring them up in a loving home, teach them how to behave and how to treat others then they will benefit from your good karma. They will attract good things into your life too.
A bad person, who steals to buy drugs would be a bad friend. Imagine what his friends must be like... crack dealers never make good friends. I wouldn't let a crack dealer into my house! People like that only bring pain, suffering and misery into your life. If you  are a criminal then you will attract other criminals and bad things will happen to you.

Its not because of some mystic concept of karma but rather just a results of your focus and the situation you find yourself in. If you are a bad guy you're not going to attract the right kind of people into your life. How is a guy who gets drunk and starts fights in bar going to connect with a kind woman who works in a soup kitchen? Hes going to hang round with other drunkards in the pub who encourage that bad behavior. You wont meet people who are going to help improve your life by being a dick.

What can we learn from Crows?

Always when you judge another person you must turn your finger on yourself and ask the question "Am I guilty of this?". There was a study which followed the behavior of crows. They found that some crows would steal food from the other crows nests. What they would do is watch where another crow hid some food and then when the coast was clear they'd go and steal it. The interesting thing is that the crows who did the stealing, when they hid their food if another crow was watching they would move it afterwards. What does this mean? That the thief suspects theft.

Have you ever lost something and thought "maybe somebody stole it?" What does that say about you?

Sometimes you'll fall out with someone in your life, you'll look at them and think to yourself "she's not talking to me" or "why didn't they invite me" you must look at yourself and think well what am I doing? You're not talking to that person either. Why does that person have to go first? I always say be the cause of your life not an effect in someone else's.

Don't you see? We are more than just an individual collection of atoms, we are all made of the same stuff, and we all share the same planet, we are all part of the interconnectness of everything. All effects have causes, Dad gets told off at work so hes angry, then he complains about dinner and Mom gets angry then she shouts at the kid for not doing the homework and the kid stomps upstairs and kicks the cat.

Be a good guy and good stuff will happen to you. Your life will be filled with goodness.

HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT IS REAL?

Descartes: I think therefore I am.

How do we know what is real? How do we know that we are experiencing reality? Its a simple question and the simple answer is: We can see/feel/hear/smell and taste the environment and therefore what we are experiencing must be actual reality. But this is not so. Our senses lie to us in every moment of every day. You feel how the ground is steady? Well its not, its moving at thousands of miles and hour..

All the things which we SEE in the physical world are a translation, by our brains, of the sensory input received through the eyes. Vision is merely the interpretation of light touching the retina. The brain then decodes this information, flips the image the right way up and filters out anything it deems to be unimportant in that moment. This all happens instantly, its an incredible feat of human brilliance.

The famous philosopher Rene Descartes understood this and posed the following question: How do I know that I am not just a brain in a jar? His point being that electricity and therefore magnetism could be used to stimulate the brain in such a way that it could see things which are not there or be tricked into experiencing other sensory information. We've all seen the Matrix, its a similar question. How would you be able to determine if what you are experiencing is a real event or just a complex fabrication made by your own mind? Those of you who are apt at Lucid dreaming will have struggled with this question also. I have often been awake and had to question myself "is this real?" or "am I asleep?"

Do you actually see whilst astral projecting or do you just imagine moving? I would have to ask the question when you are imagining do you actually see? I know that I do for sure. Stop.

When you make a picture in your mind what happens to the rest of the room? I've had people angrily say at me "what are you looking at?" and I've been like huh? I was in a trance state and my eyes may have been pointing at them but my mind was off and away somewhere else. For years they've told you off for "day dreaming" but I ask you whats the difference? How do you know that what you're experiencing right now, sitting at your computer or on your phone reading every word of this, and then you swallow.

How do you know any of this is real?

All the stresses in your life, your boss, your teacher, your husband or wife, how do you know they are not all fabrications of your own mind? We know that the mind has the ability to do remarkable things like that, be it in a dream state or the Persinger god helmet.

Then after writing all of this I realized that we still, now some 400 years after Descartes still don't have a water tight answer to this question. So I put it to you, how do you know that you are alive and that you are experiencing reality at this moment?

How to Lucid Dream Control your Dreams and Manipulate your Dreaming Experience

In a Lucid dream you are no longer bound by the laws of space or time.

Have you ever wondered How to Lucid Dream? Ever wished that you were able to control or manipulate your dreams? We have found that Lucid dreaming is an ideal place to train your psychic powers as you are not restricted by the laws of time and space. However, Lucid dreaming is not just for those with psychic abilities. Its something we can all do, and something I would strongly suggest as it is one of the most fun and enjoyable, life changing experiences you can have.

For me, the most important thing about lucid dreaming is that you, the dreamer, must be able to distinguish between being awake and being in the dream state.

We've all had experiences where we've awoken from a dream and felt "that was so real" or later in the day have been unable to decide whether something you experienced was real or in that dream state. I have in the past woken up from a dream, in which my wife has been horrid to me and I have felt actual anger towards her lying there sleeping because the dream I just had felt so realistic, conversely sometimes I hear my phone alarm go off during the day and think "I better not be asleep right now!"

So how do you know if you are dreaming? Well the cliched method is to pinch oneself. The logic being that in the dream world you won't experience the physical pain that you would whilst being awake. However how do you remember to check whether your in a dream state whilst you are dreaming. If your subconscious mind is in control of what you are seeing, hearing, sensing and thinking how can you control that consciously?

Obviously the key is to make this process of testing whether you are awake into a subconscious one. There are countless things we do subconsciously without even realizing, both in the dream state and whilst awake, things such as breathing, regulating heart rate, or digestion. If you are able to make it so that you subconsciously check which reality you are experiencing every so often, eventually you will find yourself doing this in a dream state.

And what an eye opener it is the first time it happens to you. The moment you become conscious in a dream state for the first time is incredible, its literally like being god. You are able to manipulate your physical environment, you can fly, you can transform, anybody you want can be there and you can do whatever you want, however you want. If you can imagine it you can do it. What could be more kick ass than that?
